    Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. Do not vortex. This solution can be stored at 2-8°C for up to 1 week. For extended storage, it is recommended to further dilute in a buffer containing a carrier protein (example 0.1% BSA) and store in working aliquots at -20°C to -80°C.

    Chemotactic factor that attracts monocytes and basophils but not neutrophils or eosinophils. Augments monocyte anti-tumor activity. Has been implicated in the pathogenesis of diseases characterized by monocytic infiltrates, like psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis or atherosclerosis. May be involved in the recruitment of monocytes into the arterial wall during the disease process of atherosclerosis.

Western blot
The protein ran at a slightly higher molecular weight than expected (ran around ~16kDa as opposed to the expected 13kDa). It also has fragments around ~10kDa. Literature did not indicate a cleavage site.

The protein is not readily visible in sypro at 100ng load. We visualize it in western blot with goat polyclonal antibody to MCP-1

I bought ab9901 MCP1 and want to aliquot and store.
Then, what is the best solvent for this protein storing at -20°C or -80°C?

The reconstitution instructions are lot-dependent. I think I tracked down your order and the lot number you have is GR54881-4, in which case the following instructions apply:

Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. Do not vortex. This solution can be stored at 2 to 8C for up to 1 week. For extended storage, we recommend to further dilute in a buffer containing a carrier protein (0.1% BSA) and to store in working aliquots at -20 to -80C. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.

If you can not add BSA because you plan to use the protein in a functional study, I would recommend reconstituting in pure water, aliquotting at around 0.1 mg/mL, and freezing. If the protein is diluted further you will probably need to add BSA.

Please see customers inquiry below:

I would like to order MCP-1 protein and anti-MCP-1 antibody from "abcam". I would prefer to get it in liquid (reconstituted) form.

I will be using antibody as a sensing element of chemical/biological sensor and would expect it to react with matching protein. Also I need to purchase one other (random) protein that will not react with anti-MCP-1 antibody to use it as a control in my experiments.

However I was confused by the variation of MCP-1 proteins and antibodies that you have on your website.

Could you please recommend the most suitable protein/antibody pair as well as protein for control experiment
