Biological function summary
RAB6B acts in coordination with components of the vesicle transport machinery. It is not part of a large protein complex but interacts with several regulatory proteins to ensure accurate vesicle movement and docking within cells. This protein mainly influences retrograde transport from the Golgi back to the endoplasmic reticulum. This activity supports the recycling of proteins and lipids aiding in the proper maintenance of the Golgi structure and overall cellular function.
Pathways
RAB6B modulates significant pathways related to membrane trafficking. It has pronounced involvement in the retrograde vesicle transport pathway impacting the transport of cargos in neurons. RAB6B's interaction with other RAB proteins especially with members such as RAB3 and RAB8 influences synaptic vesicle exocytosis and endosomal sorting. This highlights its role in neurotransmitter release and synaptic plasticity which are important for neuronal communication.

一般的な情報
機能
The small GTPases Rab are key regulators of intracellular membrane trafficking, from the formation of transport vesicles to their fusion with membranes. Rabs cycle between active GTP-bound and inactive GDP-bound states. In their active state, drive transport of vesicular carriers from donor organelles to acceptor organelles to regulate the membrane traffic that maintains organelle identity and morphology (Probable). Recruits VPS13B to the Golgi membrane (PubMed : 25492866). Regulates the compacted morphology of the Golgi (PubMed : 26209634). Seems to have a role in retrograde membrane traffic at the level of the Golgi complex. May function in retrograde transport in neuronal cells (PubMed : 17707369). Plays a role in neuron projection development (PubMed : 25492866).
