I understood from our initial phone call that you had already purchased ab48801 and I therefore did not make the recommendation of ab80369 as an alternative immediately. As I said in my initial email to you, we have not tested ab48801 ourselves for its biological activity and cannot therefore say whether it would work or not. It is regrettable that you found it not to work in your assay.

As a gesture of goodwill, I am willing to give you a vial of ab80369 to try. I am sorry but even though this has been found to be active in binding geldanamycin I cannot guarantee that is will work in your assay. If you would like me to do this please could you supply me with your order number and I will have this arranged.

I am sorry to hear that you found the protein Hsp90 alpha(ab48801) not to be active in your assay. As I mentioned in my previous email, as we have not performed any activity assays ourselves, we could not therefore be sure that the protein would be active and arenot able to guarantee this.

We have an alternative protein Hsp90 alpha protein (Active), ab80369 which may be of interest to you. This has been shown to be able to bind geldanamycin with a Kd of 8 nM, howeverI could not be surethat it would work in yourspecificassay.

I have contacted the source of this protein and unfortunately they ahve informed me thattheprotein’s biological activity has not beenassessed asyet, and we can not provide aspecific date when this will be perfomred. However, I would say that the protein has not beenexposed to any denaturing agents, and thereforeit is entirely possible that it is bioactive.
