What is the detected molecular weight of this product? When I ran a SDS-PAGE, I only get a strong band at around 30kDa but your datasheet states that the predicted size is 102kDa.

Thank you for your enquiry. This product was made from a 57 amino acid long sequence and a GST fusion. The total molecular weight should be 32.2kDA. Therefore, please rest assured that the band you are seeing is indeed the Cytomegalovirus Glycoprotein B protein. I am afraid that there has been an error when the datasheet was created and the information has now been removed from the datasheet. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.

This protein (ab43040: Active Cytomegalovirus Glycoprotein B protein fragment) was developed for research purposes for ELISA and Western blot applications only - but not for diagnostic or internal use in vivo. Therefore, no endotoxin tests were conducted.

We used conserved sequences from CMV strains AD169 and Towne to construct ab43040.

I am following up from a phone call that I had last week. I requested information on the protein sequence of the following peptides:

Cytomegalovirus pp65 IE protein (ab54103)

Cytomegalovirus Glycoprotein B protein (ab43040)

Would you be able to tell me the amino acid sequence and what position (ie. what number AA it starts and ends at)?

I am trying to find monoclonal antibodies that are specific to these two proteins – would you be able to recommend any that you make?

It would be greatly appreciated if you could get back to me as soon as possible as it has been a number of days since the phone call.

I can confirm that the immunogen for ab43040 is from within the amino acid range 11-67. I am sorry the exact sequence is proprietary.

Unfortunately, we are not able to release the immunogen sequence forab54103as it is proprietary information. We aim to provide as much information as possible to our customers, so I am sorry that this has not been possible on this occasion.

I have been in contact with the lab and they suggested that maybe the PAGE sample was heated too long (5 minutes) prior to loading. It is most likely that a specific smallmolecular weight amino acidpeptide was cleaved off. The short peptide that was cleaved is too small to stay on the PAGE and to be detected later on by the western blot.
