Biological function summary
ZNF638 plays an important role in coordinating the cellular processes necessary for adipogenesis and neural development. It acts as a transcription factor and shows interaction with several other transcriptional regulators. ZNF638 also forms part of larger protein complexes involved in the modulation of chromatin structure which is important for its role in transcription regulation. By facilitating chromatin remodeling ZNF638 allows access to gene targets necessary for specific cell lineages development.
Pathways
The functional activities of ZNF638 influence the PPAR signaling pathway which is essential for the regulation of adipocyte differentiation. The protein interacts with PPARγ an important regulator within this pathway as well as with other PPAR-associated proteins such as C/EBPα. Additionally ZNF638 involvement is evident in the regulation of the Wnt signaling pathway where it interacts with LEF1/T-cell factor to modulate the transcriptional activity involved in cell fate determination during embryonic development and tissue homeostasis.
