TRAK1 also known as trafficking kinesin-binding protein 1 is a motor protein adaptor with a critical role in intracellular transport. It has an approximate mass of 95 kDa. TRAK1 facilitates the interaction between kinesin motors and their cargo enabling proper transport along microtubules. It expresses widely though high levels can be found in the nervous system. TRAK1 contains specific domains that bind to both kinesin motors and microtubules allowing it to effectively guide intracellular movement.

TRAK1 influences mitochondrial trafficking within neurons. It is part of a complex with other motor proteins such as kinesin and dynein that manage mitochondria distribution. By regulating this process TRAK1 affects energy supply critical for neuron function.
