Biological function summary
SUC1 acts as a modulator of the cell cycle. The protein operates as part of a complex binding to and regulating CDKs which are important for the control of cell division. It ensures proper cell cycle transitions by affecting CDK activity which then governs cellular processes like DNA replication and mitosis. SUC1's role in stabilizing these interactions is indispensable for maintaining cell cycle fidelity and therefore regulates cellular proliferation.
Pathways
SUC1 integrates into the cell cycle regulation and mitotic pathways. It associates with the Cyclin-CDK complex impacting pathways that ensure accurate cell cycle checkpoints and DNA repair mechanisms. SUC1 relates specifically to pathways involving CDK1 and CDC2 proteins which are foundational for driving the cells through mitosis. The presence of SUC1 in these pathways allows it to act as an important control point influencing the stability and function of CDK complexes.
