補足情報

This supplementary information is collated from multiple sources and compiled automatically.

SG2NA also known as Serine/Threonine Phosphatase 2A regulatory subunit B'' is a component of the protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) complex. SG2NA has a molecular mass of approximately 54 kDa. The protein functions as a regulatory subunit and influences the specificity and activity of the PP2A holoenzyme. SG2NA is expressed in various tissues with notable concentrations in the brain indicating its role in neuronal activities.
Biological function summary

This regulatory protein contributes to several cellular processes through its interaction as part of the PP2A complex. SG2NA plays a significant role in cell cycle regulation controlling cell proliferation and apoptosis. It is involved in dephosphorylating specific substrates that are essential for cellular signal transduction and maintaining protein stability. This control over phosphorylation events impacts cellular responses to external stimuli and internal signals.

Pathways

SG2NA interacts with many signaling cascades notably the PI3K/AKT and MAPK pathways. It regulates the reversal of phosphorylation in these pathways impacting cellular processes such as growth and survival. By modulating the activation states of proteins like AKT and ERK SG2NA indirectly affects complex networks of biological pathways and collaborates with protein partners like PP2A catalytic subunits to maintain cellular homeostasis.

Research has associated SG2NA with neurodegenerative diseases and cancer. Altered function or regulation of SG2NA links to disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease where the protein interacts with tau a related protein aggregating in neurofibrillary tangles. In cancer SG2NA interacts through pathways impacting proteins like p53 reflecting its role in tumor suppression. Understanding the role of SG2NA in these diseases can lead to insights into potential therapeutic targets.

Calmodulin-binding scaffolding protein which is the center of the striatin-interacting phosphatase and kinase (STRIPAK) complexes (PubMed : 18782753, PubMed : 30622739, PubMed : 33633399). STRIPAK complexes have critical roles in protein (de)phosphorylation and are regulators of multiple signaling pathways including Hippo, MAPK, nuclear receptor and cytoskeleton remodeling. Different types of STRIPAK complexes are involved in a variety of biological processes such as cell growth, differentiation, apoptosis, metabolism and immune regulation (Probable).
