補足情報

This supplementary information is collated from multiple sources and compiled automatically.

Regulatory Factor X 1 (RFX1) also known as EF-C is a transcription factor essential for gene regulation. It has a mass of approximately 98 kDa. This protein is expressed in various tissues including the brain and immune cells influencing cellular functions in different contexts. It functions by binding to specific DNA sequences known as X-boxes located in the promoter regions of target genes. This binding regulates transcription impacting cell growth differentiation and immune response.
Biological function summary

RFX1 participates in a broader network of transcriptional regulation as part of the RFX protein family. It is involved in the regulation of genes necessary for cilia function and immune response. RFX1 often operates in synergy with other transcription factors forming complexes that modulate gene expression. It plays an important role in controlling the expression of genes critical for cell cycle regulation and apoptosis.

Pathways

The transcription factor RFX1 contributes to major biological pathways such as the MHC class II antigen presentation pathway and the cilia development pathway. It interacts with proteins like CIITA influencing immune response through the activation of MHC class II genes. By regulating these pathways RFX1 affects immune surveillance and cellular communication which are pivotal for maintaining cellular integrity and function.

Dysfunction or dysregulation of RFX1 relates to conditions such as cancer and autoimmune diseases. The protein's critical role in gene expression and the immune system highlights its contribution to oncogenic processes and disorders like systemic lupus erythematosus. It may interact with proteins such as STAT3 suggesting pathways through which RFX1 may influence inflammatory responses and tumorigenesis making it a potential target for therapeutic intervention.
