Blocking and diluting buffer and concentration : 5% NFDM /TBST. ab181602 was used as a GAPDH loading control. Exposure time : Lane 1-3 : 180 seconds; Lane 4 : 40 seconds. HEK293 and HeLa are negative controls (PMID : 17505528, PMID : 17344216). The expression profile/ molecular weight observed is consistent with what has been described in the literature (PMID : 17344216)

Biological function summary
PHOX2A is key in the regulation of noradrenergic phenotype important for the formation and maintenance of the autonomic nervous system. It interacts as part of a transcriptional complex working directly to activate the expression of genes necessary for the synthesis of catecholamines such as dopamine beta-hydroxylase. The protein ensures the proper differentiation of neural crest cells into sympathetic and parasympathetic neurons by influencing its genetic targets.
Pathways
PHOX2A is integral to the development of the autonomic nervous system pathway and the noradrenergic biosynthesis pathway. Much of its function is orchestrated through interactions with other transcription factors like PHOX2B. By regulating gene expression within these pathways PHOX2A contributes to the broader network of neural crest cell development impacting cellular processes that underpin nervous system formation and function.
