Immunoprecipitation - Anti-MPP5/Pals1 antibody (AB217068)
Detection of MPP5/Pals1 in immunoprecipitates of 293T whole cell lysate prepared using NETN lysis buffer (0.5 or 1 mg for IP, 20% of IP loaded). ab217068 was used at 6 μg/mg lysate for IP (Lane 1), and at 1 μg/ml for subsequent Western blot detection. Lane 2 represents control IgG IP. Detection : chemiluminescence with an exposure time of 30 seconds.

Biological function summary
MPP5 is part of the Crumbs protein complex which includes Crb3 and PatJ proteins. This complex is essential for maintaining apical-basal polarity in epithelial cells. MPP5 contributes to cell polarity and adhesion ensuring integrity and proper functioning of epithelial tissue. Disruptions in this protein complex can lead to loss of cell polarity affecting tissue organization and stability.
Pathways
MPP5 interacts with proteins in the Hippo signaling pathway which controls organ size and cell growth. MPP5 influences the activity of YAP (Yes-associated protein) a critical component in the Hippo pathway. YAP regulation by MPP5 can affect cellular proliferation and apoptosis linking MPP5 to tissue growth and regeneration processes.
