      Mediates the voltage-dependent potassium ion permeability of excitable membranes. Assuming opened or closed conformations in response to the voltage difference across the membrane, the protein forms a potassium-selective channel through which potassium ions may pass in accordance with their electrochemical gradient.

      Defects in KCNA1 are the cause of episodic ataxia type 1 (EA1) [MIM:160120]; also known as paroxysmal or episodic ataxia with myokymia (EAM) or paroxysmal ataxia with neuromyotonia. EA1 is an autosomal dominant disorder characterized by brief episodes of ataxia and dysarthria. Neurological examination during and between the attacks demonstrates spontaneous, repetitive discharges in the distal musculature (myokymia) that arise from peripheral nerve. Nystagmus is absent.
      Defects in KCNA1 are the cause of myokymia isolated type 1 (MK1) [MIM:160120]. Myokymia is a condition characterized by spontaneous involuntary contraction of muscle fiber groups that can be observed as vermiform movement of the overlying skin. Electromyography typically shows continuous motor unit activity with spontaneous oligo- and multiplet-discharges of high intraburst frequency (myokymic discharges). Isolated spontaneous muscle twitches occur in many persons and have no grave significance.

    Dear NuLife, I need clarifications regarding some Abcam antibodies. I wish to do immunohistochemistry on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissues and am not clear which would be the best suited for the purpose. 1. Anti-beta catenin - I want to use an antibody which will predominantly give nuclear immunopositivity on FFPEs. I want the antibody to be against CTNNB1 and use it for medulloblastomas. The following catalogue nos. are listed of which you please suggest the best one for the purpose : AB22656 AB6301 AB49459 In case there is any other better antibody for Beta Catenin, please suggest. 2. GRM8 - There are 2 catlague nos. AB53094 and AB13194 Please indicate, which is better for FFPEs. Also, please indicate if you have any monoclonal antibody for this which works on FFPE. 3. KCNA1 - Please indicate if you have any monoclonal antibody for this which works on FFPE. 4. GLI1, SFRP1 and NPR3 - Please indicate if you have any monoclonal antibody for these three which works on FFPE. Thanks and Best wishes.

    Thank you for your kind help. I will try using 5% milk, if i will have more problems i will contact you again and in the case that it's necessary changing the product.  About this possibility, i need to know if the change must be with the same product or if it's possible a change with an another antibody,  because i saw you offer various anti Kv1.1.
