補足情報

KLF15 also known as Kruppel-like factor 15 works mechanically as a transcription factor. The KLF15 protein with a molecular mass of approximately 44 kDa functions by regulating the expression of genes involved in metabolism and cell differentiation. It is expressed in various tissues including the heart liver and skeletal muscle. This expression suggests that the KLF-15 protein plays a significant role in maintaining tissue-specific functions.
Biological function summary

KLF15 influences several cellular processes by regulating gene expression. It is part of a transcription factor complex that modulates glucose metabolism lipid metabolism and muscle differentiation. The KLF-15 protein contributes to maintaining homeostasis by upregulating genes responsible for gluconeogenesis and lipid usage which is essential in adapting to fasting states. Additionally it impacts muscle cell differentiation by influencing the expression of specific myogenic factors.

Pathways

KLF15 is significant in metabolic and myogenic pathways. It upregulates genes involved in the gluconeogenesis pathway and fatty acid oxidation collaborating with proteins such as PGC-1α. Additionally within myogenic pathways KLF-15 protein interacts with myogenic regulatory factors contributing to muscle differentiation. These interactions highlight its importance in metabolic and muscle function pathways and highlight its regulatory capacity across different biological processes.

KLF15 has important roles. Alterations in KLF-15 protein levels link to metabolic diseases such as diabetes and cardiac hypertrophy. In diabetes it affects glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity with connections to proteins like FOXO1. In cardiac hypertrophy KLF-15 influences structural remodeling of the heart potentially interacting with hypertrophy-associated factors. This connection to diseases emphasizes its potential as a therapeutic target for related disorders.

ターゲットの情報

Transcriptional regulator that binds to the GA element of the CLCNKA promoter. Binds to the KCNIP2 promoter and regulates KCNIP2 circadian expression in the heart (By similarity). Is a repressor of CCN2 expression, involved in the control of cardiac fibrosis. It is also involved in the control of cardiac hypertrophy acting through the inhibition of MEF2A and GATA4 (By similarity). Involved in podocyte differentiation (By similarity). Inhibits MYOCD activity. Is a negative regulator of TP53 acetylation. Inhibits NF-kappa-B activation through repression of EP300-dependent RELA acetylation.
