Glucoamylase also known as amyloglucosidase is an enzyme that plays a significant role in carbohydrate metabolism. It breaks down starch into glucose units by cleaving alpha-14-glycosidic and alpha-16-glycosidic bonds at the non-reducing ends. Glucoamylase has a molecular mass of approximately 58 kDa although this can vary slightly depending on the source. This enzyme is expressed mainly in the pancreas and small intestine where it aids in the digestion of dietary starch.
Biological function summary

Glucoamylase contributes to catabolic processes by facilitating the conversion of polysaccharides into simple sugars which are easier for cells to absorb and utilize.
