Question

Many thanks for getting back to me, and offering to replace the antibody. Unfortunately you do not have another antibody that is suitable for this study (i.e. a goat antibody recognising both Gnaq and Gna11) - i will therefore select another antibody - but at the moment i am not sure what this will be. it will take me a day or two to sort this out and see what else could be useful. I will let you know when i have decided



I will also add my characterisation data to the abreview for the goat Gnaq antibody - as i say it does work quite well - but only for Gnaq.

Question

I have recently purchased antibody ab113429 - advertised as a Gnaq/11 antibody (i.e. will recognise both Gnaq and Gna11 - not suprising as these proteins are highly related). However, this antibody recognises only Gnaq and not Gna11 as indicated on the data sheet. A simple blast search confirms that this antibody will not recognise Gna11 - and i have also confirmed this by labeling of cells transfected with Gnaq and Gna11 etc. Now that i have checked more fully it would seem that the antigen is actually the same as that used to raise another one of your antibodies - ab128060 - which is clearly stated to be Gnaq specific. The issue is that i am using ab113429 to confirm the pattern of staining observed with another Gnaq/11 antibody (ab79337) - which labels both Gnaq and Gna11 (i have confirmed the specificity of this antibody using transfected cells etc) - ab113429 is also raised in goat and i had planned to use this for double labeling with other rabbit antibodies. The problem is that as the new antibody does not recognise Gnaq/11 as stated, but only Gnaq - it is of little use to me as a control or for double labeling. (all antibodies do seem to work quite well - its just that ab113429 fails to detect Gna11 as implied by the data sheet / antibody name. On the basis that the antibody is not as expected i would a refund or to replace it with a different one? is this possible? I am more than willing to send you the characterisation data if you require.
