補足情報

This supplementary information is collated from multiple sources and compiled automatically.

FVT1 also known as Lipin-1 is a phosphatidate phosphatase enzyme primarily involved in lipid metabolism. The protein has a molecular mass of approximately 100 kDa and expresses significantly in adipose tissue muscle and liver. It regulates the conversion of phosphatidic acid to diacylglycerol an important reaction in triglyceride and phospholipid synthesis. Through its enzymatic activity FVT1 plays roles in lipid droplet formation and storage impacting energy homeostasis in cells.
Biological function summary

FVT1 contributes to the regulation of lipid balance within metabolic processes. It participates in the formation of a complex with other proteins involved in lipid biosynthesis. Lipin-1 modulates transcriptional activation of genes related to lipid metabolism via its interaction with transcription factors like PPARγ. By controlling lipid synthesis and storage it influences cellular lipid composition and energy storage which are important for normal metabolic function.

Pathways

FVT1 lies within the glycerolipid synthesis and fatty acid oxidation pathways. It interacts closely with proteins such as AGPAT and DGAT which are essential for triglyceride synthesis. These pathways involve the conversion of simple glycerol-based molecules into complex lipids which are vital for membrane formation and energy storage. In fatty acid oxidation FVT1 supports energy provision from lipids during metabolic demands.

FVT1 has associations with metabolic conditions such as lipodystrophy and rhabdomyolysis. Mutations in FVT1 can lead to lipin-1 deficiency contributing to muscle weakness and exercise intolerance seen in rhabdomyolysis. Additionally the protein connects to disorders characterized by abnormal lipid storage or metabolism often involving proteins like perilipin and adiponectin. Understanding FVT1's role aids in uncovering novel therapeutic approaches for these metabolic dysfunctions.
