Biological function summary
EDC3 supports mRNA regulation by participating in mRNA decapping a regulatory process essential for controlling gene expression. EDC3 is a critical component of the decapping complex interacting with proteins like DCP1 and DCP2 facilitating efficient decapping of mRNA. The interaction of EDC3 with Pat1 another decapping activator enhances the mRNA decay process and ensures proper turnover of mRNA in the cell.
Pathways
EDC3 plays a part in the 5' to 3' mRNA decay pathway facilitating the removal of the cap structure leading to exonucleolytic degradation of mRNA. This pathway is important in mRNA degradation and turnover ensuring precise regulation of gene expression. EDC3 is related to proteins such as LSM1 and XRN1 which cooperate within the 5' to 3' exonucleolytic decay pathway promoting efficient mRNA degradation.
