補足情報

This supplementary information is collated from multiple sources and compiled automatically.

The protein diacylglycerol kinase kappa (DGKK) plays a role in the phosphorylation of diacylglycerol to produce phosphatidic acid. This reaction is important in lipid signaling pathways. DGKK has a molecular mass of roughly 135 kDa. It is expressed in various tissues including the brain heart and placenta suggesting that it has functions in diverse physiological processes.
Biological function summary

DGKK functions in the regulation of lipid second messengers which are critical for cellular signaling. It is not known to be part of a specific protein complex but it interacts with other signaling molecules to modulate cellular responses. These interactions suggest DGKK has roles in signaling cascades that control a number of cellular mechanisms.

Pathways

DGKK participates in the glycerolipid metabolism pathway and the signaling events controlled by protein kinase C (PKC). These pathways involve intricate networks of interactions that influence broader cellular functions like cell growth differentiation and apoptosis. DGKK's relationship with PKC is important as both proteins coordinate to regulate the levels of diacylglycerol an important signaling lipid.

DGKK has been implicated in the development of X-linked chondrodysplasia punctata (CDPX2). This disorder which affects bone growth may arise due to disruptions in lipid signaling and metabolism. Additionally research suggests possible associations with neurological disorders though specific connections and mechanisms remain under investigation. Mahajan et al. studied the potential links between DGKK and these conditions providing insights into its roles.

ターゲットの情報

Diacylglycerol kinase that converts diacylglycerol/DAG into phosphatidic acid/phosphatidate/PA and regulates the respective levels of these two bioactive lipids (PubMed : 16210324, PubMed : 23949095). Thereby, acts as a central switch between the signaling pathways activated by these second messengers with different cellular targets and opposite effects in numerous biological processes (Probable).
