Antibody cocktails

Antibody cocktails are mixtures of antibodies that have been optimized for use together, such that you only need to use one antibody cocktail solution to detect multiple proteins at the same time, in the same sample.

The antibodies in the cocktail are selected to be suitable for use with the same sample preparation conditions, such as antigen retrieval or western blotting buffers. The amount of each antibody in the cocktail is also titrated to the optimal dilution.

This enables significant time savings and reductions in sample usage.

For example, with antibody cocktails designed for western blotting, in the case of our most popular OXPHOS antibody cocktail (ab11041), five proteins can be analyzed in each lane of the western blot at the same time. The antibodies are selected so that each protein detected is well separated from the others on the blot. The antibodies are also selected so that they can all be used with the same secondary antibody.

Antibody cocktails are also used in imaging as convenient tools, allowing for the visualization of 1, 2, or more markers simultaneously.

Antibody panels

Antibody panels are pre-selected groups of antibodies that target related proteins or pathways. They speed up the selection of antibodies when you need to analyze proteins across a biological pathway, or to identify multiple different cell types.

Some antibody panels, such as flow cytometry panels, are also designed to allow all the antibodies in the panel to be used simultaneously.
