BarX2 also known as BarH-like 2 is a transcription factor involved in gene regulation. BarX2 has an estimated mass of around 36 kDa. It initially expresses in various tissues including the central nervous system and the developing limb. BarX2 contains a homeobox domain a DNA-binding region influencing gene expression by interacting with specific DNA sequences. This capability makes it critical in transcriptional regulation involved in developmental processes.
Biological function summary

BarX2 plays a significant role in neuronal differentiation and limb patterning. It functions by controlling the expression of downstream target genes that drive cellular differentiation and growth. BarX2 does not form part of a larger complex but interacts individually with target genes in developmentally active tissues.
