Pancreatic hormone is synthesized in pancreatic islets of Langerhans and acts as a regulator of pancreatic and gastrointestinal functions and may be important in the regulation of food intake. Plasma levels of this hormone have been shown to be reduced in conditions associated with increased food intake and elevated in anorexia nervosa. In addition, infusion of this hormone in obese rodents has shown to decrease weight gain. -

Immunohistochemical analysis of paraffin-embedded human pancreas tissue labeling Pancreatic Polypeptide with ab300746 at 1/200 (2.5 µg/ml). The tissue section was first incubated with TBS containing 0.025% (v/v) Triton X-100, 0.3 M glycine and 1% (w/v) BSA for 1 h at room temperature to block non-specific protein-protein interactions, followed by overnight incubation at +4°C with ab300746 at 1/200 dilution (shown in red). Nuclear DNA was labeled with DAPI (shown in blue). The section was then mounted using Fluoromount®. Positive cytoplasmic staining was observed on human pancreatic islets.
Image was taken with a confocal microscope (Leica-Microsystems, TCS SP8). Counterstained with DAPI.
Heat mediated antigen retrieval was performed using ab93684 (Tris/EDTA buffer, pH 9.0)
