Interpolated concentration of native AST was measured in duplicate at different sample concentrations. Undiluted samples are 1 : 40 mouse serum, plasma (citrate), plasma (EDTA), and plasma (heparin). The interpolated dilution factor corrected values (to neat sample) are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). Sample dilutions are made in Sample Diluent NS.

Mouse Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST) ELISA Kit, Chemiluminescent (ab325368) is a rapid single-wash sandwich 55-min ELISA to measure Mouse Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST) in Serum, Citrate Plasma, EDTA Plasma, Heparin Plasma, Cell Extract, Tissue Extract with a sensitivity of 8 pg/ml.

How the assay works

Mouse Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST) ELISA Kit, Chemiluminescent (ab325368) SimpleStep ELISA®  employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA® plates. This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step during a 30 min only incubation, significantly reducing assay time.  By utilizing a chemiluminscent detection method this improves the sensitivity and dynamic range when compared to traditional colormetric ELISAs.

Mouse Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST) (ab325368) protocol summary

Biosynthesis of L-glutamate from L-aspartate or L-cysteine. Important regulator of levels of glutamate, the major excitatory neurotransmitter of the vertebrate central nervous system. Acts as a scavenger of glutamate in brain neuroprotection. The aspartate aminotransferase activity is involved in hepatic glucose synthesis during development and in adipocyte glyceroneogenesis. Using L-cysteine as substrate, regulates levels of mercaptopyruvate, an important source of hydrogen sulfide. Mercaptopyruvate is converted into H(2)S via the action of 3-mercaptopyruvate sulfurtransferase (3MST). Hydrogen sulfide is an important synaptic modulator and neuroprotectant in the brain.
