Indoloquinazoline alkaloid with broad pharmacological activity. Immunomodulatory activity. Blocks BV2 microglia activation in response to LPS. Inhibits pro-inflammatory cytockine production via Nrf2, HO-1 and NFκB pathways. Inhibits indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase 2 (IC₅₀ = 5-17 μM). Promotes neuronal differentiation of human neuroblastoma cells. Also reported to have anti-cancer, anti-microbial and anti-oxidant activity.
