Wherever possible, you should prepare and use solutions on the same day. However, if you need to make up stock solutions in advance, we recommend that you store the solution as aliquots in tightly sealed vials at -20°C. Generally, these will be useable for up to one month. Before use, and prior to opening the vial we recommend that you allow your product to equilibrate to room temperature for at least 1 hour.

補足情報

This supplementary information is collated from multiple sources and compiled automatically.

Albumin is a protein found abundantly in the blood plasma often referred to as human serum albumin (HSA) and with a molecular mass of about 66.5 kDa. This protein plays an important mechanical role in maintaining osmotic pressure and is vital for the transport of diverse molecules such as hormones fatty acids and drugs. Albumin is synthesized in the liver and its expression is largely found in the blood accounting for over half of human serum proteins.
Biological function summary

Albumin serves diverse roles beyond transport; it also acts as a depot and carrier for many endogenous and exogenous compounds. In addition to its primary location in blood plasma albumin contributes to the buffering of pH. It does not form part of a larger complex but interacts dynamically with various other plasma proteins and small molecules due to its binding sites. It plays a part although not structurally connected in processes requiring metabolic interchange and balance.

Pathways

Albumin integrates into the lipid metabolism and homeostasis pathways. It fortifies the transport system alongside proteins such as apolipoproteins facilitating lipid and solute movement through the bloodstream. Additionally albumin indirectly influences the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system important for blood pressure regulation intersecting with proteins such as angiotensinogen through its role in fluid distribution and vascular stability.

Albumin levels in the blood serve as a significant indicator for liver and kidney diseases such as cirrhosis and nephrotic syndrome. Albumin depletion links closely to these disorders often due to increased loss or decreased production. For instance low albumin levels associate with nephrotic syndrome where faulty kidneys result in substantial proteinuria. The involvement of receptors like CXCR4 has implications in broader renal pathophysiology which can also impact albumin turnover.
