    Legionella pneumophila is a flagellated gram negative bacterium found primarily in warm water environments. Legionella pneumophila causes a type of pneumonia called Legionnaire disease and a milder condition called Pontiac fever. Infection is acquired through inhalation of the microorganism in water mists (e.g. from air conditioning, cooling towers, whirlpool spas and showers mists). A number of risk factors for acquiring Legionnaire disease have been identified, including age, smoking, chronic lung disease, cancer, and immunosuppression.

About anti Legionella, the customer would be interested in particular in anti Legionella spp and not to Legionella pneumophila.

Would you be able to let me know if your Ab anti Legionella pneumophila can react also with other species of Legionella?

If so, can you please provide us with some data?

We do not have antibody specific to Legionella species which can detect all the legionella organnisms however the antibody ab20943, is not a absorbed product so it may cross-react with related microorganisms.

- Aspergillus
Legionella pneumophila
Pseudomonas spp
She is looking for Abs against these targets and with the following characteristics:
- If available polyclonal as first choice, or monoclonal
- NOT conjugated
Obtained by immunizing live cells / native organism, or with membrane preparations or (no soluble extracts for example)
- Able to recognize the whole organism native / vital
I did a preliminary check in your catalogue and found the following Abs (please see attachment).
Could you please confirm in particular that these Abs are able to recognize the whole and vital organisme.
If these Abs are not able to recognize the whole and vital organisme can you please check if you have monoclonal Abs with these characteristics?

ab20943 is tested and guaranteed for L. pneumophila serogroups 1-12. Serogroups 13-15 have not been tested and we do not know if this antibody will recognize them.

To our knowledge, ab20943 has also not been tested in IP.
