Thank you for contacting us.  We do not test the concentration of the specific antibody in our protein G affinity purified antibodies. The 0.5 mg/mL concentration would correspond to total Ig. However, we expect >90% of the antibody to be specific in this type of preparation. The details of the neutralization assay are as follows: Second passage chicken embryo fibroblasts were induced with ChIFN with 1% rabbit antiserum. 15 hours post-induction, cells were infected with VSV. Inoculum was removed after 30 min by washing with PBS. Culture supernatant was harvested 12h post-infection. We do not measure the specific IgG concentration for these affinity purified products, just total IgG. Thank you for your enquiry. The situation with this antibody is that while it will recognize chicken interferon beta by Western blotting, it does not neutralize its activity in vitro. It does, however, neutralize the activity of interferon alpha, and thus it can be used to distinguish the two bioactivities. Presumably it recognizes an epitope that is only revealed in interferon beta following denaturation.
