    FITC (fluorescein isothiocyanate) is a fluorochrome dye that absorbs ultraviolet or blue light causing molecules to become excited and emit a visible yellow-green light. This emission ceases upon removal of the light causing the excitation. Fluorochrome labeling provides rapid, accurate localization of antigen-antibody interaction when one of the reactants is part of a cell, tissue or other biological structure. FITC is a commonly used marker for antibodies in immunofluorescent techniques since the conjugation of FITC to proteins is relatively easy and does not, in general, destroy the biological activity of the labeled protein. FITC is widely used as a hapten to label different proteins.

Has this antibody been tested in IHC on frozen or paraffin-embedded sections?

Thank you for your enquiry. Ab10257 can be used in IHC in two ways: 1. You can use FITC-labeled antibody against antigen of your interest as first antibody and then apply peroxidase-labeled ab10257 as developing reagent. 2. You can add the excess of native anti-FITC antibody and then FITC-labeled anti-peroxodase antibody mixed with peroxidase (FITC labeled PAP-complex). In both cases paraffin or frozen sections may be used. The detection of antigen of interest will depend on the ability of the first antibody to recognize the antigen and the sensitivity of antigen to procedures necessary for embedding the sample in paraffin.
