Maria Elena Torres Padilla chats to Abcam about recent publications which are offering new insights into the field of epigenetics and looks into the possible future in this fast advancing research area.

Maria-Elena did her undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Sciences of the UNAM, Mexico and obtained her Ph.D from the Institut Pasteur, Paris in 2002. She was a postdoctoral fellow at The Gurdon Institute, University of Cambridge between 2002 and 2006 before working as scientist with Laszlo Tora until 2008. Maria-Elena currently leads a team studying “epigenetics and cell fate in early mammalian development’ at the IGBMC in Strasbourg, France.
