With regards to your question, a clone number is given to an antibody produced by a single clone of hybridoma cells. Each hybridoma cell clone produces one single pure homogeneous type of antibody. The term "monoclonal" pertains to a single clone of cells, a single cell and the progeny of that cell. Monoclonal antibodies can be made in large amounts in the laboratory.

Each clone number represents a specific cell line cloned from ascites that was used to manufacture the antibody. Since antibodies are produced by more than one host, each cloned cell line receives a unique clone number. The clone number is not synonymous with the lot number which is in relation with the creation of the vial. There is little to no difference amongst the quality of the clones.

Therefore, with regards to your question, there are no clones that are commonly used for Desmoglein 3 for lung SCC. A clone is just a number given to the hybridoma from which the antibodies are produced from.

Other than ab125710 which failed to give positive results, I can suggest Anti-Desmoglein 3 antibody [3G133] (ab14416) (https://www.abcam.com/ab14416) or Anti-Desmoglein 3 antibody [MM0245- 4W25] (ab89177) (https://www.abcam.com/ab89177)

These two antibodies are produced from different clones: 3G133 or MM0245- 4W25. Neither of these has an advantage for detecting Desmoglein 3 in lung SCC both should work on human tissues. The difference between these two antibodies is the immunogen. ab14416's immunogen is Recombinant fragment (Human Desmoglein 3 extracellular domain) whereas ab89177's immunogen is Recombinant full length human Desmoglein 3 protein.

Please note that these antibodies are guaranteed to function in immunhistochemistry in human but we have no specific results for use on lung SCC.

This protein is found in epidermis, tongue, tonsil, esophagus and carcinomas, so any of those tissues would be good positive controls.
