Inquiry: Hi there I was interested in knowing whether either the - Anti-CD15 antibody [28] (ab20137) - Anti-CD15 antibody [SP159] (ab135377) antibodies were reactive against the carbohydrate lewis-x. Most antibody companies list CD15 target as the fucosyltranserase, which is categorically incorrect and misleading. I'd like to clarify that these antibodies listed on the abcam database are reactive to the carbohydrate only.

I can confirm that both ab20137 and ab135377 recognise the carbohydrate CD15 (3-fucosyl-N-acetyl-lactosamine).

ab20137's immunogen is Lewis-X from monocytes, separated from other peripheral blood leucocytes (PBL) on fibronectin plates. Please not that this clone does not activate complement.

ab135377's immunogen is Lewis-X purified from U937 cells.
