The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.
< 0.100 Eu/µg
Murine Leptin has been shown to be biologically active in two different mouse obesity models, ob/ob and NZO.
Both strains of mice were treated via intraperitoneal injection once daily at a dose of 5 µg leptin/gm of body weight for 14 days.
Significant effects on body weight , food consumption, and plasma glucose levels were observed to saline-treated controls.
Reconstitution : centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in water
to a concentration of 1.0-5.0 mg/ml. Do not vortex. This
solution can be stored at 2-8oC for up to 1 week. For
extended storage, it is recommended to further dilute in a
buffer containing a carrier protein (example 0.1% BSA)
and store in working aliquots at -20oC to -80oC.

May function as part of a signaling pathway that acts to regulate the size of the body fat depot. An increase in the level of LEP may act directly or indirectly on the CNS to inhibit food intake and/or regulate energy expenditure as part of a homeostatic mechanism to maintain constancy of the adipose mass.
Defects in LEP may be a cause of obesity (OBESITY) [MIM:601665]. It is a condition characterized by an increase of body weight beyond the limitation of skeletal and physical requirements, as the result of excessive accumulation of body fat.
