PTPD1 is a member of the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family. PTPs are known to be signaling molecules that regulate a variety of cellular processes including cell growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation. The predicted PTPD1 protein has 1,174 amino acids. Its overall structure is similar to the structures of PTPH1 and PTPMEG1 (PTPN4), with an N-terminal ezrin-like domain and a single PTP domain at the extreme C terminus. Northern blot analysis shows that PTPD1 is expressed abundantly in human placenta, lung, and skeletal muscle, and to a lesser extent in several other tissues. PTPD1 may have a role in liver regeneration and spermatogenesis.
ab12550 staining PTPD1 in Human kidney. Paraffin embedded human skin tissue was incubated with ab12550 (1/600 dilution) for 30 mins at room temperature. Antigen retrieval was performed by heat induction in citrate buffer pH 6. Ab12550 was tested in a tissue microarray (TMA) containing a wide range of normal and cancer tissues as well as a cell microarray consisting of a range of commonly used, well characterised human cell lines.
