This antibody binds free Peptide Histidine Methionine in solution. It cross reacts with PACAP (approximately 12%, incomplete, non parallel inhibition). It does not cross react with GLP1, GLP2 VIP or glucagon.
The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.
ELISA: 1/2000. Use at this dilution with Peptide Histidine Methionine coating at 2 µg/ml.
For glutaraldehyde linked Peptide Histidine Methionine-ovalbumin (molar ratio 4:1) coated at 1 µg/mL the dilution is 1/30,000.
Not yet tested in other applications.

Peptide Histidine Methionine (PHM) is a 27 amino acid vasodilator peptide which shares 50% amino acid homology with vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) and which is encoded as part of the pro VIP molecule. Accordingly, all pro VIP derived neuropeptides are frequently colocalized, but appear to exert different physiological effects. The VIP/PHM prohormone is produced by neurons in the central and peripheral nervous systems, often together with acetylcholine. PHM belongs to the glucagon secretin family of peptide hormones and like VIP is a vasodilator and stimulator of intestinal fluid secretion.
