Legionella is a Gram-negative bacillus having motility through flagella and is the causative agent of legionellosis. Legionella gormanii was first isolated from soil samples taken from a creek bank in Atlanta, Ga. Like other Legionella species, Legionella gormanii is implicated in pneumonia.
