4,4'-Diisothiocyano-2,2'-stilbenedisulfonic Acid, Disodium Salt
Stilbene disulfonate that inhibits anionic transport. Used to inhibit Cl- uptake through plasma membrane-localized Cl- channels in order to study chloride transport. Also effectively inhibits various sodium-coupled bicarbonate transporters. Reacts with CD4 glycoprotein on T helper lymphocytes and macrophages, blocking HIV type-1 growth at multiple stages of the viral life cycle.
Fluorescence: max. Abs. l = 341, max. Em. l = 415 (in water).
