Customer's question: I see online your synthetic V 5 peptide is GKPIPNPLLGLDST and is conjugated to KLH. What is KLH and is that the "tag"? I am wondering what exactly you mean by "tag". Do I have to use anything special? I am doing immunoelectron microscopy with these antibodies and I usually do preliminary work with cultured cells. The method is a streptavidin-biotin and I use DAB as a chromagen. Thanks! |

The V5 epitope tag is used in transfection procedures in which the gene of interest is cloned in frame with the codons for the V5 epitope (GKPIPNPLLGLDST). The resulting expressed protein is tagged with the V5 epitope, which can be tracked with antibodies to the tag. KLH was used as a carrier in order to elicit an immune response to the synthetic V5 peptide, which is too small to generate an antibody response without conjugation to a larger carrier protein. Best of luck with your immunoelecton microspopy. I am not aware of the use of our V5 antibodies in EM, and would certainly appreciate hearing of your results. |
