Question 1

Wednesday 28-March-2012

Dear Sirs,
Could you tel me if product listed in your catalog ab 629 TGF beta 2 protein is the active or inactive form of TGF-b?
Thank you

ANSWER:

Thank you for your enquiry and your interest in our products.

I can confirm that ab629 a recombinant full length protein (Human) expressed using (BTI-Tn-5B1-4) cells and it has been tested un functional studies so it is the active form of TGF beta 2.

I hope this helps and if I can assist further, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Question 2

Tuesday 07-February-2006

What are the reconstitution instructions for this protein?

ANSWER:

Thank you for your enquiry.

Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstituting in water to a concentration of 50 µg/ml (e.g., 5 µg/100µl) will yield a solution of 1 mM citrate buffer, pH 3.5. This solution can then be stored at 4C for 1 month. It is recommended that further dilutions be made in PBS containing 2 mg/ml albumin and stored at -20C for future use.

I have added this information to the datasheet for future reference.

I hope this information helps, please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any more advice or information.

Question 3

Tuesday 15-March-2005

I am interested on using TGF-beta1 protein, but as far as I have been able to look for, your company only has recombinant proteins of TGF-alpha, TGF-beta2 and -beta3. Is it true? Do you have information of a suitable source of TGF-beta1? Thank you for your useful website.

ANSWER:

Thank you for your enquiry. Yes, we currently do not carry TGF-beta 1 protein and at this time we only have TGF alpha, TGF beta 2, and TGF beta 3 proteins.

I'm not who else may have TGF-beta 1 protein, but you can click on the link to "The World's Antibody Gateway". The World's Antibody Gateway is a free search engine service provided by Abcam to help you to quickly find the antibodies that you are looking for. It is a free-text search engine developed by the Abcam team so that it searches the catalogues of all online antibody companies (currently 249). When you do a search on our website, the World's Antibody Gateway link is located at the top and bottom of the page.

If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Question 4

Tuesday 11-May-2004

I want to know in which buffer you suggest I should reconstitute the recombinant TGFb. Also, what is the concentration I should use for the aliquots (is there a concentration under which the product becomes unstable).

ANSWER:

Thank you for your enquiry. We would advise you initially reconstitute in water to a concentration of 50ug/ml. You can then aliquot this solution and should not have any problems. For further dilutions, we recommend PBS containing 2mg/ml of albumin. We do not have specific data at which concentration the protein would become unstable, but typically if you make the dilutions in PBS containing albumin this elevates the problem of non-specific binding which is an apparent problem for TGFbs. If we had to make a recommendation we would not dilute any further than 10ug/ml. It is possible that it would be fine at 1ug/ml provided there is a carrier protein, but without having specific data, we would not recommend storing at such a low concentration.

We hope this information helps.
