Additional Notes
Submitted image is of visceral adipose tissue, which is a mixture of brown/white adipose tissue: the large "holes" indicate the presence of the white adipocytes as they accumulate fat stores in one lipid droplet that fills the whole cell thus pushing the cytoplasm to the periphery only, whereas brown adipocytes accumulate cytoplasmic lipid in multiple droplets. The lipid is mostly dissolved out in pwax processing thus white adipocytes will appear "empty" and brown adipocytes will appear, at higher magnification, to be vacuolated.
The tissue to the right is the hilus of mouse kidney and is substantially negative for this Ab reagent.
The reviewer received a reward from Abcam’s Loyalty Program in thanks for submitting this Abreview and for helping the scientific community make better-informed decisions.
