Additional Notes
Calbindin (CaB) as a neuronal marker in the chicken retina has been shown to label double cones at the outermost level of the retina, specifically the outer segments of the cones. Here I present the two results from different antibodies to CaB. The marker in the left panel of the figure is a monoclonal anti-Cab and the ab49899 from Abcam in the right, however, does not show labeling as does the positive control, nor as described previously. The two images were taken from 2 sections from a same retina, and all experimental protocols- sectioning, fixation (PFA), incubation, washing etc. were identical. For detailed description, see Fischer et al., (2007) Heterogeneity of horizontal cells in the chicken retina.
