Anti-BrdU antibody - Proliferation Marker (ab1893)

A customer has the following enquiry;

On the data sheet, it says that these two antibodies should be stored at -20'C which is what I have done. Interestingly ab1893 does not seem to freeze and is still in a liquid state. Is this normal? Will ab37385 freeze too?

We have checked the instock vials and can confirm that the liquid is frozen at -20C. You may need to check the freezer temperature because the antibody buffer should get frozen at -20C.

There is also no glycerol in storage buffer.

Can you tell me if this product also detects iododeoxyuridine (IDU)? If so, what is the percentage of reactivity?

Unfortunately this antibody has not been tested against IDU.

Does the antibody pick up free Brdu? Also, do you know how I can remove unincorporated Brdu...perhaps dialysis?

The Brdu antibody should recognize both incorporated and free Brdu. The free Brdu should wash away in the experiment.

I need to replenish my supply of an antibody raised in sheep against BrdU. The antibody is made by [competitor 1], which is where I last purchased it. However, [competitor 1] no longer sells to end users directly and they directed me to several suppliers, Abcam being one of them. I believe that Abcam is selling the [competitor 1] antibody under catalogue number AB1893 and is charging $299 for 125ug. [competitor 2] also is marketing the [competitor 1] antibody and is charging $305 for 250ug, essentially half the price that Abcam is charging. I have no experience with [competitor 2]. In contrast, my experience with Abcam has been very positive, and therefore I would like to purchase the sheep ant-BrdU antibody from Abcam if you will match [competitor 2]'s price.

We spend alot of time calculating the amount of antibody we can sell for a particular price based not only on the cost of bringing the antibody to market, whether the antibody is produced by Abcam or outside of Abcam, but also on a number of other factors. For example, if you look at the datasheet for ab1893 you will see that we have published feedback from customers as Abreviews, we have published previous enquiries, and we have published images and references. We have an Abpromise stating that if ab1893 does not perform as described on the datasheet, notify us within 90 days of delivery, so that we can help you or offer you a replacement or a refund.

As our founder has stated many times we hope that when customers purchase an antibody from us they realize that they are purchasing more than the antibody in the vial.
